ABOUT THE SUMMIT
The Food Security Equity Impact Fund supports community-led solutions to address systemic inequities by awarding multi-year grants to community organizations and network food banks engaged in food justice and equitable access initiatives. Established in 2021, the Fund addresses the root causes of hunger, invests in communities of color and deepens food banks’ partnerships in their communities. This 3-Day Summit brings together grantees and stakeholders to connect, reflect, and learn from one another.

Who Will Be There?
The Food Security Equity Impact Fund Summit will bring together voices from the Fund grantees (both Planning and Implementation), Feeding America thought leaders and supporters of the Fund, in addition to external experts that will help to inform, learn, and share what is taking place to support community-led solutions.

What Can I Expect?
The Food Security Equity Impact Fund Summit will allow Feeding America’s network food bank members and community-based partners to come together to celebrate impacts, learn from each other on the journey, and share lessons learned throughout this grant period to date that will help to inform and transform new areas for opportunities.

OFF SITE TRIP OPTIONS
Forgotten Harvest Farm
Forgotten Harvest Farm is situated on 130 acres in Fenton, Michigan. Since 2013, Forgotten Harvest Farm has grown and harvested nearly seven million pounds of produce for Detroit families. Grantees will meet farm manager Mike Yancho to learn more about the farm, followed by a walking tour of the farm, barnyard, and crops.
D-Town Farm
D-Town Farm, the largest of Detroit's many gardens and farms, occupies slightly more than seven acres inside the Meyers Tree Nursery in the City of Detroit's Rouge Park. D-Town Farm is maintained by a small staff and volunteers who grow more than 30 different fruits, vegetables, and herbs each year using sustainable, regenerative methods. During this 90-minute tour, grantees will split up into two groups to rotate between two activities: a Q&A and overview of D-Town Farm to learn about their mission and operations, and a walking tour of the farm.
Avalon Village
Avalon Village is a sustainable eco-village in the heart of Highland Park, Detroit. Once vacant and blighted land, Avalon Village is now a valuable urban resource and providing basic living components for a quality, comfortable, and prosperous life. During this 90-minute tour, visitors will learn more about the Avalon Village and check out their three food growing areas, including the Invincible Gardens and HPC3.
